The Retractabed® from Med-Mizer

The innovative Retractabed combines comfort, ease, and safety. Other adjustable beds only raise and lower the head section, causing the user to move forward. With the Retractabed, the bed frame retracts when the head section is raised. This reduces skin shear and the need for users to reposition while also reducing the risk of falls due to users having to reach for items on a nightstand. The Retractabed has two frame options, fixed width and variable width. The variable width frame features Med-Mizer’s Comfort Wide™ technology and can expand from 35 inches wide to 39 or 42 inches wide without the use of any additional tools. When not in use, the Retractabed can be easily collapsed for storage without disassembly. This unique design accommodates user and caregiver needs, without sacrificing safety or comfort.

Clinical-Contour® is an exclusive feature of the Retractabed that reduces skin shear and the repositioning of residents. This feature allows the head and knee sections to be raised and lowered at the same time and can be operated using either the hand control or the optional foot end attendant controls (ACO). The head and knee sections can also be operated independently. The bed height can be raised or lowered on its own with the touch of a button. If you opted for the under-bed lighting system you can turn it on and off using the same controls. The variable width frame also features Med-Mizer’s Evac Position™. This extra position makes the bed thinner and allows the bed to easily pass through doors less than 42 inches wide.

The Retractabed has loads of available options to customize your bed to your needs. Head and foot boards are available in four classic colors, English Oak, Mahogany, Cherry, and Light Oak. Side rails and pivoting assist bars are available with or without a fixed handset. The bed length can be extended by either four or eight inches. Other options include a trapeze assembly, removable attendant controls (ACO), under the bed lighting, floor bumper guard, battery backup, and more.
