Harmar AL065 Universal Inside-Outside Hoist Lift

The AL065 mounts to a vehicle's hitch but uses a hoist arm to bring a compatible mobility device into the cargo area. It is designed for manual wheelchairs, small powerchairs and scooters weighing up to 200 lb. A hand control powers the lift; the operator rotates the device manually into position. The two-piece lift can be disassembled for storage. This is different from an exterior platform lift that carries a device behind the vehicle.

Choose the Docking Setup

The selected docking device depends on the mobility device and whether its seat remains on during loading. Current options include a T-bar for seat-off use, a spreader bar, an adjustable C-arm for seat-on use, and a dock for an accordion-folding manual wheelchair. Confirm the device's attachment points and exact docking hardware before ordering. The 200 lb rating is only one part of compatibility; the chosen dock must support the specific chair or scooter as intended.

Vehicle and Cargo-Space Fit

Harmar lists compatibility with sedans, minivans, SUVs, vans and trucks, but the exact vehicle and hitch must be checked. Measure the cargo opening, floor height, available width and depth, and the path the device follows as it rotates inside. Seat removal, cargo obstructions, docking placement and floor adapters can change the available room. Verify the mounting arrangement and that the lift can complete its rotation without contacting the vehicle interior.

Loading and Operation

The lift raises the unoccupied mobility device under power, after which the operator guides it manually into the vehicle. Consider who will handle that rotation and whether they can safely guide the device through the full movement. Follow the manual for docking, lifting and securing the device before travel. Harmar describes a two-piece assembly that can be taken apart, and says the design can preserve use of the vehicle's backup camera; confirm both details for the actual installation.

Give a Harmar dealer the vehicle year, make and model, hitch details, cargo measurements, mobility-device model and weight, and whether the seat stays on. Confirm the lift's docking device, floor adapter, installation and operating clearance. The 200 lb device limit does not guarantee a compatible dock or vehicle fit.
