Harmar AL301XLHD Heavy-Duty Fusion Hitch-Mount Lift
The AL301XLHD is Harmar's heavy-duty Fusion outside platform lift for larger scooters and powerchairs. Its powered platform uses a 36 x 39-inch aluminum deck, adjustable front and rear cradles that extend to a maximum 53-inch span, and self-tensioning Q'Straint retractors. Harmar rates this HD model for devices up to 400 lb; the lift's installed weight is listed at 102 lb. These limits are distinct: check both the mobility device and vehicle before selecting a lift.
Fit the Device to the Deck and Cradles
Measure the device's wheelbase, overall length and width, drive-wheel location, footrests, tiller or joystick, and accessories in travel configuration. Confirm that the wheels sit securely in the adjustable cradles and the retractors reach appropriate securement points. A device can fall under 400 lb but still be incompatible if its frame geometry cannot be supported on the 36 x 39-inch deck or within the cradle span.
Powered Loading and Securement
The AL301XLHD powers the platform's lift and fold operation. Position and secure the unoccupied device using the cradles and retractors as directed, then check that all restraint points are engaged before travel. The powered platform does not eliminate the need to align the device correctly or inspect the restraints. Follow Harmar's installation and operating instructions for the chosen wiring and hitch setup.
Vehicle and Configuration Choices
The hitch adapter, wiring method, swing-away, license-plate riser, battery pack and camera options are configuration-dependent. Confirm which are included in the selected order. Check the vehicle's hitch rating, tongue weight, payload and suspension with both the 102 lb lift and the loaded mobility device accounted for. The rear-mounted platform also affects clearance, parking, backing and access to a hatch or tailgate; a swing-away option may help with access when compatible.
Before Ordering
Provide the dealer with the powerchair or scooter model, loaded weight and dimensions, vehicle details, hitch class and wiring preferences. Verify the 36 x 39-inch platform, up-to-53-inch cradle reach, securement arrangement and selected accessories for the exact installation. Do not substitute the standard AL301XL's 350 lb rating for the AL301XLHD's 400 lb rating, or vice versa.
