The Model 210 is a powered hitch-mounted platform for carrying a compatible mobility device outside a vehicle. It offers a larger 28 x 48 inch usable platform than the Model 117 and is rated for a 350 lb device load. The lift itself weighs 103 lb, which is a separate part of the vehicle's load. The platform folds into a stowaway position when empty, but the lift remains mounted to the hitch and adds weight behind the vehicle. Plan around the device, lift, receiver and vehicle as one system.

Match the Device to the Platform

Measure the mobility device in the exact travel configuration, including footrests, tiller or control assemblies and other parts that extend its footprint. Compare those measurements with the 28 x 48 inch usable area. A device below the 350 lb capacity can still be too long, wide or shaped differently from the platform, or may not align with the supplied securement. The Model 210 includes two retractable ratchets for securing the device; check the owner's manual and confirm the device can be secured as directed before ordering.

Operating and Stowing the Lift

A switchbox operates the powered platform. Follow the owner's manual for raising, lowering and securing the lift, and keep people clear of the moving platform during operation. The manufacturer describes a stowaway position when the platform is empty. Confirm that the raised platform clears the vehicle and that folding it does not block access to lights, the license plate or other required equipment. Also consider how the lift changes access to a tailgate or rear door when loaded.

WheelChair Carrier lists up to 24 inches of possible ground clearance. Actual clearance depends on the vehicle's ride height, receiver position, suspension and installation. Check the installed lift over the driveways and transitions you use; the maximum listed figure is not a guarantee for every vehicle or load.

Receiver, Wiring and Vehicle Limits

The Model 210 is available for 1 1/4 inch or 2 inch square hitch receivers. Select the size that matches the receiver actually installed on the vehicle, and confirm compatibility with any required mounting hardware. The lift includes a 21 ft wire harness and a 30 amp resettable circuit breaker. Installation must provide a suitable route for the harness and a secure connection; review the manufacturer's installation manual or arrange qualified installation if the electrical or hitch requirements are unclear.

When checking capacity, count the 103 lb lift, the mobility device and any accessories or cargo. Confirm the vehicle's payload and the receiver and hitch ratings, including tongue-weight limits. The manufacturer warns not to exceed the hitch manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. A receiver that physically fits the lift does not prove the vehicle can safely support the combined load.

Before Ordering

Verify the device footprint and securement, receiver size, lift weight, vehicle ratings, wiring route and loaded-platform clearance. Check that the complete lift path clears the bumper, tailgate, exhaust, lights and license plate. Review the Model 210 owner's and installation manuals before use; the platform's capacity is only one part of a safe vehicle-lift installation.
