Protekt Aire 2000 Low Air Loss and Alternating Pressure Overlay

The Protekt Aire 2000 combines low air loss and alternating pressure in an overlay designed for use on top of an existing mattress. Its 17 individual air bladders provide support, while an adjustable pump lets a caregiver set airflow for the user. Check with the care team to determine whether this support surface is appropriate for the user and bed.

Alternating Support with Adjustable Airflow

The pump runs on a preset 10-minute alternating cycle and has an airflow dial for adjusting comfort and pressure levels. A static function is available for patient transfers, and a visual low-pressure alarm indicates when airflow may be compromised. Adjustable hanging brackets help position the pump at the bedside.

Low Air Loss and a Removable Cover

The overlay uses 18 laser holes for low air loss airflow to help keep the user cool and dry. Its removable nylon cover is described by the manufacturer as fluid-resistant, non-shear, antimicrobial and antibacterial. Follow the manufacturer's cleaning instructions to care for the cover and overlay.

Transfer and Deflation Features

A transport connector locks air into the overlay for transfers, while a CPR valve allows rapid deflation when required. Kink-resistant tubing connects the overlay to the pump. Caregivers should follow the manufacturer's instructions for using these features and check tubing connections during setup.

The standard overlay measures 36 inches wide by 80 inches long and 5 inches thick, with a 350 lb weight capacity. A version with foam raised side rails is available as an option; raised rails should not be assumed to be included with the standard system. Confirm the selected configuration and bed fit before ordering.
