Pride Go Go Elite Traveller SC40E 3-Wheel Mobility Scooter
This FDA Class II medical device is designed to aid individuals with mobility impairments. Specifications may change, and speed and range vary with rider load, terrain and battery condition. HCPCS references do not guarantee reimbursement.
Small-footprint mobility with a tight turn
The Go Go Elite Traveller SC40E is a three-wheel scooter whose appeal starts with maneuvering space. Its 33-inch turning radius and 37-inch overall length make it a useful candidate for tight indoor routes and trips where a larger four-wheel scooter needs repeated reversing. This is the original three-wheel Elite Traveller, not the four-wheel Gen 3 and not either Platinum edition.
With a base width of 19.5 inches and a 300-pound capacity, it balances compactness against a practical adult carrying rating. Top speed is up to 4 mph, keeping its role close to pedestrian-paced use. The layout is particularly relevant when tight turns and lighter frame loading matter more than suspension, larger wheels or the seating space of a full-size scooter.
What portability looks like at the car
The feather-touch system separates the scooter into five pieces for transport. Its heaviest frame section weighs 29.5 pounds, which is a very different proposition from lifting the entire scooter. That advantage is useful only if the person loading can reach the trunk floor and control the section while clearing the bumper. Vehicle geometry can turn a manageable weight into an awkward lift.
The scooter weighs 75.5 pounds without batteries, approximately 95 pounds with 12Ah batteries and 105 pounds with the optional 18Ah setup. The larger battery box adds another handling consideration, even though the frame sections stay the same. Allow time for unloading, arranging the components and reassembly at each stop. For frequent short errands, that routine may be more important than the difference between two published total weights.
A compact seat and a useful delta tiller
The seat measures 17 by 17 inches and folds for storage. Its seat-to-deck adjustment range is 15.75 to 17.25 inches, allowing the seated leg position to be tuned within the compact chassis. The shorter scooter is not necessarily the right fit for every rider: check knee room, shoe placement and cushion support instead of assuming a small footprint automatically makes getting on and off easier.
The delta tiller offers wraparound hand positions, with an adjustment knob to change steering reach. A charger port on the tiller avoids having to crouch at the battery area for everyday charging. Releasing the throttle returns it to the stop position and engages the brakes. If the freewheel lever is used to push the scooter, return it to drive mode before use; freewheel disengages the normal braking system.
The battery upgrade is a separate decision
The standard configuration uses two 12Ah batteries, with an optional pair of 18Ah batteries available for buyers needing more distance between charges. The larger setup has a published range of up to 10.5 miles. More battery capacity can make longer outings practical, but it also raises transport weight. It should not be treated as an included upgrade merely because it appears in the same model's specifications.
The 2-amp off-board charger allows the pack to be charged on or off the scooter. Choose a charging location that is convenient enough to use after ordinary outings, not only when the battery meter is low. Actual distance depends on rider load, surfaces, slopes, stopping patterns and battery condition. Keep reserve for the return trip and do not turn the largest range claim into a promised distance for every itinerary.
Included convenience and terrain compromises
The manufacturer supplies a front basket and interchangeable red and blue shrouds. Changing those panels alters appearance, not the scooter's wheel layout or battery capacity. Carrying aids and other accessories can be useful when chosen around a particular task, but a shopping-oriented travel scooter should not be expected to arrive with every holder or storage attachment shown in accessory photographs.
The solid 8-inch tires suit maintained indoor and paved routes, not the cushioning demands of rough outdoor paths. Clearance varies beneath the scooter, including just 0.75 inch at the anti-tip area. That low point matters when approaching thresholds or uneven transitions. Slow down for corners and avoid cross-slopes or loose-ground shortcuts simply because the machine turns tightly. The SC40E is strongest when compact maneuvering and a low component lift solve real daily access problems, with its small seat and limited clearance understood from the outset.
