Four wheels with a basic travel-scooter brief
The Go Go Ultra X S49 is the four-wheel version of Pride's straightforward disassembling travel scooter. It is intended for buyers who want a conventional four-wheel footprint and uncomplicated daily operation without moving into a larger scooter. The distinction from the three-wheel S39 is meaningful: the front section is heavier, the turning circle is wider and the published speed and range figures differ.
Overall dimensions are 40.25 inches long by 19.25 inches wide, with a 52.25-inch turning radius. Width alone therefore does not establish whether it will work in a small kitchen or around a sharp hallway corner. Map the places where you must turn around, not merely the doorways you need to pass through. This older S49 is also separate from the redesigned Ultra X Gen 3 SC493.
Five pieces reduce the lift, not the work to zero
Feather-touch disassembly separates the scooter into five components for storage and vehicle transport. The heaviest piece is the 34.5-pound front section, rather than the complete machine. That can make ordinary trunk loading more realistic than carrying a one-piece scooter, particularly when another person can arrange the seat and battery pack while the frame is being handled.
The assembled scooter weighs 81.5 pounds without batteries and 101 pounds with them. Those figures belong in the comparison if you use a platform lift or expect to move the assembled unit. The battery pack is another approximately 20-pound load, and its drop-in design makes replacement simpler than reconnecting loose batteries. Check where each component will sit in the vehicle and how much bending the process requires before calling the scooter easy to transport.
Seat size and steering reach matter more than capacity
The 17-by-17-inch compact seat folds for packing, with seat-to-deck adjustment between 16.5 and 18 inches. That provides room to tune leg position but does not add cushion width or extensive upper-body support. The S49 carries up to 300 pounds; comfortable fit still depends on the rider's hips, thighs, shoes and preferred sitting posture.
A tiller adjustment knob changes steering reach, and the charger port is positioned on the tiller for easier access. Evaluate hand placement and throttle operation directly, especially when comparing with scooters offering wraparound delta handles. Releasing the throttle engages the brakes. Freewheel mode disengages the braking system to allow pushing, so the lever needs to be returned to drive mode before sitting down or setting off.
Battery range for a realistic round trip
The two 12Ah batteries have published range results of up to 6.6 miles at 300 pounds and 8.9 miles at 200 pounds. Those numbers belong to the S49, not its three-wheel counterpart or the later Gen 3. A heavier rider should not plan around the lighter-rider figure. Slopes, repeated starts and battery aging also affect distance, so include a return reserve even for familiar errands.
The 2-amp charger can be used with the battery pack on or off the scooter. Off-board charging is particularly useful if the scooter stays near the vehicle while the nearest outlet is inside the home. Make charging part of the ordinary storage routine and use the intended charger. The benefit of a removable pack is logistical convenience, not permission to mix chargers or battery types from unrelated travel scooters.
Know where the uncomplicated chassis belongs
A front basket is standard, giving you a place for small belongings without filling the deck. Other carrying or protection accessories should be selected separately. Top speed is up to 4.1 mph, which suits moving alongside pedestrians rather than rapid outdoor touring. The S49's restrained specification is best judged on whether its essentials suit your route, not on the number of premium accessories it can resemble.
Solid 8-inch tires remove routine inflation checks, but there is no suspension to cushion repeated uneven paving. Ground clearance is 1.25 inches at the low point and 3.23 inches at the deck; neither figure authorizes curb climbing. Maintained paved routes and level indoor floors are its natural environment. Choose the S49 when you prefer its four-wheel layout and can accommodate the wider turn, while accepting the extra lifting weight and modest range that accompany this practical entry-level travel design.
