Harmar AL105L Lightweight Swing-Away Joint

The AL105L is a manually operated swing-away joint for a compatible exterior vehicle lift. Once correctly installed, it lets the lift pivot away from the rear of the vehicle to clear access to a trunk, liftgate or tailgate. This can help when the mobility device is carried outside the vehicle and the rear opening is still needed, but it adds a joint and another compatibility requirement to the lift installation.

Joint Only; Lift Sold Separately

This product is the AL105L swing-away component, not a complete vehicle lift or device carrier. Top Mobility lists AL100, AL300 and AL500 lift families as compatible, but the exact lift configuration, installation position and vehicle application still need confirmation. Do not assume that a similarly named lift or another manufacturer's carrier will fit.

Weight and Load Checks

The listing gives a 25 lb component weight and a 350 lb capacity. Confirm with Harmar or the installer how the capacity applies to the selected lift and complete installation; the vehicle receiver, hitch structure and vehicle limits may impose lower limits. Include the lift, swing-away, mobility device and any other carried equipment when checking total load.

Vehicle Access and Installation

Measure the rear opening and the space needed for both the lift and the device to swing clear. Confirm receiver class, hitch rating, vehicle tongue-weight limits, ground clearance and door movement with the full assembly installed. Have the joint fitted and operated according to Harmar's instructions, and verify that it latches and supports the lift as specified before loading a mobility device.
