Golden Buzzaround LX GB149 4-Wheel Mobility Scooter - Stone Grey

This listing selects the Stone Grey finish for the Buzzaround LX. The color option changes its appearance, while the model configuration and operating characteristics described below remain those of this exact parent model.

The Buzzaround LX GB149 brings high-back seating and spring suspension to a four-wheel scooter that can still be dismantled for transport. It is a sensible model to compare when the intended routine includes longer appointments, extended shopping visits or regular neighborhood trips on maintained paths. Its emphasis is sitting comfort and useful battery capacity rather than the lightest possible lift. Buyers who expect to load it daily should examine the chassis sections as closely as they examine the seat.

Four-Wheel Space Requirements Deserve a Home Check

The GB149 is 44 inches long and 22 inches wide, with a turning radius of 54 inches. That turning figure is considerably larger than the three-wheel LX's, making the floor plan an important part of the decision. Check corners near bedroom doors, dining tables and corridor ends rather than measuring a single doorway. This model does not use the microTURN steering found on the newer XL and XL+.

Electronic speed control allows the pace to be reduced below the 5 mph maximum when approaching crowded areas or narrow openings. The infinitely adjustable tiller has an easy-reach adjustment lever, so steering reach can be set with the rider seated. Try turning in both directions after adjustment and check that the knees are clear. A four-wheel layout does not remove the need to slow down on turns or assess cross-slopes carefully.

Seat Support and Suspension Address Different Needs

The standard quilted high-back seat has a 17-inch-wide, 16-inch-deep cushion, with a 17-inch back before the headrest. Three seat-height positions in one-inch increments help match the sitting position to foot placement and control reach. The published capacity is 375 lbs.; that figure does not determine whether the cushion is wide or deep enough for a particular rider. Compare it with a familiar comfortable chair and allow time for a proper sitting assessment.

A 20-inch by 18-inch stadium seat is an optional alternative and should not be confused with the standard seat. Comfort spring suspension helps absorb minor pavement irregularities, but it is not a substitute for supportive seating or an accessible route. Nine-inch solid tires avoid routine inflation, while 4-inch under-deck clearance does not establish a curb-climbing height. Favor firm, maintained paths and indoor flooring rather than loose surfaces or deep ruts.

Disassembly Reduces the Total, Not the Heaviest Lift

The assembled scooter is listed at 174 lbs. and breaks into six pieces for transport. Its front half weighs 57 lbs., the rear half 36 lbs., the seat with arms 32 lbs., and each of the two battery packs 24 lbs. The front half is therefore the component that usually determines whether manual loading is practical. Quoting the seat or battery weight alone would give an incomplete picture of the transport requirement.

Consider the vehicle's cargo height, the loader's reach and where each section will be placed. The parts can be arranged separately around luggage, but repeated trips carrying substantial pieces can become more demanding than the initial front lift suggests. Practice disassembly and reassembly before taking the scooter away from home. If a helper cannot manage the front section comfortably, a suitable lift or another transport arrangement may be more appropriate than relying on the word portable.

Longer Visits Need a Realistic Charging Plan

Two U1 batteries are rated for an operating range of up to 18 miles. Golden bases that figure on a 200 lb. rider, and rider weight, driving surface, terrain and battery type affect the result. The larger battery system can support more extensive outings than a small LT pack, but a planned trip should still include a return reserve. An afternoon with repeated starts, gradients and detours is not identical to the manufacturer's range test.

The tiller places the battery charging connection and USB port beneath the controls, with a phone holder included. The specifications list an off-board charger. Optional charging equipment includes a Y-cable harness and battery docking station for removed battery boxes, useful when the scooter cannot be parked near an outlet. Choose those accessories around the actual storage and charging routine rather than assuming that every charging method is included.

The GB149's lighting package includes the distinctive V-shaped front running light, with one switch operating the scooter's lights. That is a convenience and route-illumination feature, not a guarantee that other people will see the rider. Electro-mechanical brakes and a manual freewheel mode are fitted; understand how to re-engage driving mode before riding. An optional bumper conversion kit permits a different vertical-storage arrangement. The four-wheel LX suits riders willing to allow more turning room and heavier loading pieces in exchange for its seated comfort and everyday endurance.
