Harmar AL600 Classic Interior Hybrid Platform Lift

The AL600 Classic is a hybrid platform lift that carries a compatible power wheelchair or scooter inside a vehicle's cargo area. Harmar lists a 350 lb device capacity and compatibility with most minivans, SUVs and vans. Four cam-buckle straps secure the mobility device, and the interior layout can preserve use of the rearview camera. Unlike an exterior hitch carrier, the AL600 uses cargo space inside the vehicle, so the key purchase question is whether the device, platform and installation fit the exact interior without blocking seats or access.

Match Platform, Device and Cargo Area

Confirm the mobility device's weight and dimensions in the travel configuration, then compare them with the platform and available vehicle space. A device under 350 lb can still be too wide or long to fit, or may not align with the securement points. Measure the cargo opening, floor area, ceiling clearance and path from the lift position to the intended storage position. Harmar's reference to most vans and SUVs is not a universal fit guarantee; seat layout, trim and mounting structure vary by vehicle.

Secure the Device for Travel

The AL600 uses four cam-buckle straps to hold the unoccupied powerchair or scooter during transport. Follow the AL600 manual for strap placement, tension and inspection, and confirm the device frame can be secured as directed. The lift is not for carrying a person while raising, lowering or traveling. Do not substitute improvised straps or assume that an accessory from another carrier will work with this platform.

Consider Passenger and Rear-Camera Access

Storing the mobility device inside may protect it from some outside exposure and keep it within the vehicle, but it occupies cargo space. Check how the loaded lift affects passenger seating, luggage, seat movement, the tailgate and access to other equipment. Harmar notes that the design can preserve rearview-camera use; verify that the camera view remains clear in the actual vehicle after installation and loading.

Installation and Vehicle Ratings

Have the exact vehicle and mobility device reviewed by a Harmar dealer before ordering. Confirm the mounting structure and location, platform clearance, installation requirements and any accessories needed for the selected configuration. Account for the lift and device together when checking the vehicle payload and loading limits. A 350 lb platform rating does not establish that the vehicle floor, suspension or payload can carry that combined load.

Before Purchase

Provide the vehicle year/model and device dimensions and weight for a fit assessment. Review the installation and owner's manuals, including securement and travel checks. The AL600 is a practical option when inside-cargo transport is preferred and the chosen vehicle has enough room for both the installed lift and its load.
