Can I take my travel power wheelchair on a cruise?

• Many cruise companies recently updated their mobility device policy. Their new requirements state that, mobility devices may not be left in hallways, they must fit through the stateroom door (22') and should be able to be folded or dissembled once in the room so they can be stored under the bed or in the closet. *Each cruise line has different mobility scooter regulations. It is always best to check their corporate website for the most current requirements.

Can I take my travel power wheelchair on the airplane?

• Travel power wheelchairs do qualify to fly on all major airlines. However, the Airlines do have requirements regarding the units batteries. If your power wheelchair has a lithium battery your power wheelchair can be gate checked and go under the plane but the battery should be removed and carried on the plane with you. The battery should be no larger than 300 AH. For other standard batteries they should be "maintenance free" and are allowed on airlines. All Batteries we sell are maintenance free. Top Mobility advises that regardless of your maintenance free battery type ("gel cell" or "sealed lead acid") that you check with the airline directly to get their approval just to be 100% positive.
