Models in this category disassemble or fold for easy transport in the trunk of most cars. Travel Mobility Scooters are easy to lift into the trunk, with the heaviest piece on some models weighing as little as 22 pounds. Sealed batteries make them airline approved*. As you might imagine, these travel mobility scooters are compact so we don't recommend them for people over 5'10" or 300 pounds. Full Size Mobility Scooters

Full size mobility scooters are designed for users who want more features and power. The individual pieces of a full size mobility scooter are heavier and bulkier than those of a travel mobility scooter. Some full size mobility scooters can be dissembled, not all of them and we do not recommend it. Each piece is significantly heavier than those of a travel mobility scooter. Full size mobility scooters have an excellent range of standard features and optional upgrades. Full size mobility scooters perform well on smooth outdoor surfaces and provide hours of ride time. Their turning radius is typically larger than a travel mobility scooter and they can also have wider overall widths. Make sure to measure your doorways and consider any tight spaces that you might need to maneuver in your home. We always suggest thinking about long narrow hallways and tight turns in the bathroom.

Heavy Duty Scooters

If you weigh over 400 pounds, a heavy duty mobility scooter might be a great mobility option for you. With both 3 wheel and 4 wheel models to choose from, these scooters offer weight capacities up to 500 pounds, wider seats and suspension options for comfort, there is sure to be a heavy duty mobility scooter that meets your needs. 

Recreational Scooters 

Recreational mobility scooters are designed with driving ranges up to 55 miles and top speeds of 23 mph. Some of these scooters are not considered medical or mobility scooters, they are just as the category name states, recreational. Which means some of these scooters may not have a backrest or you may have to use a hand brake to slow the scooter due to the high travel speed. That being said these scooters are fun and zippy and can be an ideal option for commuting around your neighborhood or to the golf course!

Which mobility scooters are the fastest?

• Specifically, the Freedom Scooters Chaser 1000 (which goes 23 MPH) is the fastest so far in our inventory but that might change in the future as manufacturers are constantly pumping out new products to keep up with their competition. Another fast model is the Pride Mobility Raptor 2 which goes 14 MPH.

Do mobility scooters arrive assembled?

• Most units that fold and that are meant for easy traveling are going to arrive pre-assembled. Some units that break apart into two main pieces (the chair and motor base) will require very light assembly. Other units have casters and body plates that are used to customize the color of your mobility scooter which will require some assembly as well. In most cases, there will be some assembly required but nothing serious. If you have a loved one or friend that can help you when the unit arrives that would be helpful otherwise you might want to consider white glove delivery as your delivery option upon checkout.

What types of warranty options are available?

• Pride Mobility, Golden Technologies & Shoprider automatically include a 1-year in-home service contract for parts and labor. Extended 2-year and 3-year warranty options are available for most major brands by the manufacturers.
