I bought my Pride GoGo Traveler Elite Plus scooter at Top Mobility's bricks-and-mortar store in Hudson Florida, more than three years ago. I was satisfied with the service, and have been quite happy with my scooter.

I needed a scooter that I could load into my small Toyota on my own, and with which I could do international travel. The GoGo Traveler certainly fills the bill. This scooter has gone a lot of places: airplanes, city streets, trains, accessible city buses, cobbled streets, museums, country roads, shopping centres, cruise ships, hospitals, campgrounds, zoos, steam trains, dog parks and subways. It is a workhorse for me, and I will be honest when I admit to giving it harder use than it was really designed for. This is a scooter made to take you from your car into the mall to go shopping, and then back to your car. But that is SO not me, and the full-size scooter-accessible van scene was even less me! So, three years ago, the GoGo it was.

Given the paces that I put my workhorse through, I'm not surprised that it has needed service and repair a few times. But each time, a tech at the local mobility shop has been able to get the parts and fix it for a reasonable price. In three years, I've had one new set of batteries (the "Plus" machine takes two, which gives it great range) a new controller, and a repair in the drive mechanism. It's looking, unfortunately, the worse for wear, mostly compliments of airlines which are pretty rough on equipment when loading it into planes. One by one, the trim pieces disappeared into thin air, and there are several battle scars inflicted by an airline which has a reputation for breaking guitars. Still, three years later, my GoGo and I still go, and we go a lot of places.

This machine breaks down into four lift-able pieces that will fit into virtually any car. When we travel, we always rent small cars, and we've never encountered one that wouldn't take the GoGo parts. If there's room for two medium size suitcases, there's room for the scooter. I'm a sixty-something female, and I can lift each part, although I appreciate offers of help. As I get older and my hands get more arthritic, though, I'm thinking that it may soon be time to invest in a super-lightweight travel scooter which is smaller, not as heavy, easier to transport, and less dependent on ramps and handicap access. But I'll keep my GoGo for as long as it will go.
